A List of German Shepherd Rescue Organizations

It’s no secret that our team here loves German Shepherds. They’re not just great protection dogs — they’re great friends and companions, no matter who you are. Unfortunately, some people abuse, mis-treat and even torture their dogs in an attempt to train them, while others simply abandon them on the streets, with no food or shelter. It breaks our hearts to see such despicable behavior. Fortunately, there are a number of rescue centers and other organizations designed specifically to help rescue German Shepherds and place them into loving forever homes. Here are a couple of national German Shepherd rescue organizations, as well as a few by region:

National Organizations:

Local/Regional Organizations:

Northeastern United States

Southern United States

Midwestern United States

Western United States

Owning a German Shepherd can be an incredible and rewarding experience. But it’s also a big responsibility. Many people, when they realize the work it’s going to take, decide to simply release their dogs onto the streets to fend for themselves. Others may responsibly seek out a shelter or rescue where the dog will be safe. That’s why organizations like the ones listed above are so necessary. They take abandoned German Shepherds and put them with loving families who understand what it takes to care for them properly. These organizations greatly need our support to continue doing what they do, because neglect is a terrible thing, and it shouldn’t happen to a dog.
